On September 14, 2022, Mr. Othman El-Grandi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, had a phone call with Mr. Urmas Reinsalu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia.
The Minister highlighted the importance of establishing a bilateral consultation mechanism to stimulate consultation and coordination between the two countries on issues of common interest and to explore new cooperation and partnership opportunities, especially in promising areas of high added value, in addition to promoting trade exchanges, encouraging investments, influx of tourists, exchanging experiences and networking researchers from the two countries.
In this context, the Minister valued the existing cooperation between Tunisia and Estonia in the field of modern technologies, as the two countries signed, last May, a memorandum of understanding to develop bilateral cooperation in e-gov services directed to the citizen.
For his part, the Estonian minister expressed his country’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Tunisia in various fields, especially the digitization of services, given its tangible impact on the life of citizens, the high operational capacity and the high technological content of these disciplines.
In this context, the two sides also exchanged views on a number of international issues of common interest, in addition to confirming Estonian participation in the 18th Francophonie Summit, which will be hosted on the island of Djerba on November 19-20.
